I'm not a fan of turn-based rpg games but this game does a really good job at making combat entertaining. Like I said, conbat on this game is turn-based with a twist. There is a timeline that every combatant has to travers, in real time, in order to perform an action, this adds a level of engagement into battle that makes it feel more action & strategy than turn-based. Like any good RPG, you have an ability tree to upgrade your character and companions. Also a gem crafting system. Gems are attached to equipment to add buffs, like fire attack or fire resistance. But the highlight is the art. Hand drawn graphics are beautifully crafted and the princess's hair animation is outstanding, like a dream. Early on the game you learn to fly for traversing the world, which makes moving around the world entertaining as well. Lastly, the story is good. Playing on casual mode made it accessible, combat is not hard and I could enjoy the art and story without getting frustrated at the game! A must play!

So pretty, just...the style alone is amazing?? Like. It's great, I love it. The gameplay is pretty fun, and I'm not the biggest fan of the control of the firefly, but it's not that bad honestly. I'd totally recommend this game to anyone into stylistic games, it's just so pretty and I can't stop messing with the hair.

A beautiful RPG with stunning hand-drawn visuals and a story that resembles that of a playful fairytale. Child of Light is a delight to play, with engaging combat mechanics and vibrant backdrops of the environments that will keep you immersed in this water-colored world. Each area giving off a different vibe and atmosphere. Child of Light is an art in game form and is in my opinion a game that delivers everything that you can ever bring to the table in a classic RPG game.
